Solar City put energy into their CSR

Another great example of ‘caring for the community’ and ‘giving back’ is Solar City, a leading US-based solar power provider. They produce and distribute solar power systems to power homes, schools and businesses. There are 1.4 billion people in the world who have no access to electricity. This is approximately 20 per cent of the population of our planet. Therefore, solar power can be even more valuable to communities in Third World and developing countries who have limited or no access to electricity. For these countries, having no electricity often means school, work, leisure/social environments stop at sunset.

Solar City created its ‘Give Power Foundation’, which in turn donates solar power systems to schools in South America and Africa. This allows the schools to operate at night and offer classes for adults and children. These classes can improve both the short- and long-term prospects of the communities served (Gauss, 2017).
